Our family moved to Whidbey Island in 2005. At the time, our eldest son was commuting 4 hours a day to attend the early childhood program at the Whidbey Island Waldorf School. Although he never complained about his daily ferry rides, we decided it was a bit extreme. Now, all three of our 3 children attend the school and we have found home.
I graduated in 1991 from Webster University with a BA in Sociology and teaching certification for 7-12 Social Studies. Later I added certification for Adult Basic Education. In 1992, I joined the Peace Corps and served in the Republic of Palau working in library development, curriculum development, plan management and teacher training.
After returning home to St. Louis, MO, I taught English as a Second Language at the International Institute, a refugee resettlement agency. Although I deeply loved this work, it was not a sustainable career. And hence my journey into retail management. Here I specialized in training and becoming a “fixer”, going into the departments that were performing the most poorly and helping them to turn around. Although the intesity and diversity of the teaching skills required in the business realm fed my "inner teacher" it was clear that it was not the highest-self I could achieve.
My college sweet-heart, and now husband, and I decided to move to Washington and start a family in 1997. I returned to teaching English as a Second Language and later transitioned into school administration. After the birth of our first son, I began working at home so that I would have more time to actively participate in the role of "mommy". I spent the next 8 years working in dentistry as the Director of a program that trained dental teams and dentists on the emotional support, marketing and organizational skills necessary for supporting high fear patients.
It was during this time that I began my quest to discover my passion. After asking the angels for a purpose and calling to be shown to me, I found reflexology. Once my youngest child was old enough for me to be gone for a whole day of class at a time, I began the Mastery Certification program at Seattle Reflexology and Massage Center. I received my Mastery Certification in Reflexology in July of 2008. I received my American Reflexology Certification Board in May 2009. This is the highest level of credentialing a reflexologist can achieve in the US at this time. In 2009 I also completed the certification program for Cranio-Sacral Reflexology.
I have diversified my studies to include ear reflexology, nerve reflexology for the neck reflexes, infertility, digestive support and much more! Working with proper footwear and shoe sizing are also passions of mine. And I enjoy incorporating anthroposophy within my work with children as they transition developmentally.
I believe that each practitioner is called to this work in a unique way. Part of the success of the session is dependent upon the energetic matching of client and practitioner. Reflexology, like all scientific art forms, is not performed by a machine on a stagnant plate. But rather it evolves through the gifts of the practitioner and the guidance of the client's energetic body. I have coined the term “Mind, Body and Spirit Reflexology” to describe my specific unique gift. During my sessions I hold the highest and best for the client and stay focused on trusting the work. Although I follow sound and true reflexology principles and techniques, I also allow for my unique gift to come through.
As I have allowed my abilities to connect with energetic pulses during the reflexology session, I have found my skills to connect with the energetic realm of consciousness around all of us increasing. Honoring the clarity of this vibration and messages received, I introduced Energetic Readings to my practice in May 2009.
Each session is an opportunity for service. Thank you for allowing me to share this journey with you! It is my passion and my calling to share this work. |
